Why “Ghostbusters II” is a very relevant film for our modern times.

We need to spray ourselves with some positively charged slime.

Ghostbusters II is a supernatural comedy released in 1989. But you wanna know what’s spooky? It’s just as relevant 19 years later, in 2018.

It perfectly sums up what’s happening in our modern times. And yes, slime is at the center of it all.

If you haven’t seen the film, here’s what you need to know:

A group of paranormal scientists — The Ghostbusters — discovers a river of slime flowing beneath NYC towards the Manhattan Museum of Art. Within the museum, trapped in a portrait of himself, is the ghoulish spirit of Vigo the Carpathian, a sixteenth-century tyrant and magician who basically wants to come back to life and re-instate his rein of evil.

Turns out this slime is real bad stuff.

For one, it wreaks all sorts of havoc on New York. Ghosts start popping up, attacking people. The slime attacks people. One woman’s mink coat comes alive and tries to attack her!

Secondly, the slime is reactive to human emotion. Why’s it so evil? The Ghostbusters determine it’s a result of New Yorkers’ negative emotions. Nowhere else are there more densely…
