Stop hustling so hard.
Hustle in moderation.
A few months ago, an acquaintance sent me a very nice email.
I just wanted to say your work ethic and all you’ve accomplished with The Onion, SlackJaw, Validation, bots, etc. is an inspiration. Your selfless enthusiasm and positivity is also awesome and admirable.
I’m not sharing this to inflate my ego. No, quite the opposite.
I’m sharing because my ego completely betrayed me.
What my friend doesn’t know…
I’d completely burned out.
Because of everything I’d taken upon myself, my anxiety (which I’d had under control for a very long time) flared up big time, leading to a relapse of depression and OCD. My body hated me for stressing it so hard. My physical and emotional health took a major hit.
I’d simply pushed myself to do too much.
The worst part is: no one else was telling me to do all this. It was completely brought on by pressure I was putting on myself.
Why? Because HUSTLE HUSTLE HUSTLE!
You gotta hustle until your face melts in order to get all those #boss #goals, right? If you’re not hustling so hard your soul is detaching itself from your body, you’re doing it…
